Storm in a she-cup!

Bright coloured bras are the latest rage.
Storm in a she-cup!
Experimenting with colours
We’re in for a new lingerie movement. We’re finally saying farewell to the Great Indian White Bra that frequently peeped through sarees and t-shirts of Indian women.
Phew! Every woman in India was wearing just a white bra. We seemed a colourless nation of women, which didn’t want to experiment with lingerie colours.
Something has just changed.
1x1 polls
We’ve liberalised ourselves from the tyranny of the Great Indian White Bra. After all, Indian women have been patronising the boring, bland white bra for almost a decade. It was quite a turn-off, you’d agree. Be it Mandakini or Kimi Katkar, or Helen, the white bra straps were oh-not-so-sexy!
We’re in for a revolution. Girls are flaunting -- purple, shocking green or blue coloured bras. This announces the arrival of confident women. Bra-buying is an art. You need to know -- how to pick, what size, what shape and what colour suits your body. Ex-model Meyhar Bhasin believes that a bright bra is all about sex appeal, White bra is outdated. If you’re wearing a coloured bra, it can cheer you up. Bra in bright shades like blue or a pink always turns you on and makes you feel beautiful and bold from inside. If I am wearing a black top, I would definitely wear something contrasting inside.”

We don’t need to be prudish white bra loyalists anymore. The latest bra styles are about being daring and bold. This is a ‘youth-led rebellion’. This is a welcome corrective to our oversexed times. Is this merely an inevitable reaction to a culture of increased female sexual empowerment? “Yes,” says Sujata Assomull, of Murjani group, “Lingerie is the most intimate piece of clothing. Women these days prefer brighter shades as they make you look provocative.”
Aren’t we sick of white bra? White bra symbolises a primitive innerwear. Pinks, sky blues and canary yellows are some of this season’s hottest shades in bras. Even a recent survey declared pink to be the favourite colour in lingerie, bagging 40% of votes.
Fashion designer Falguni Peacock says, “Women are bold and ready to experiment. They want to try out new options. White bra is not hot these days; women want to wear more colourful bras with their outfits.”
